How do I keep my car in great shape?

Like your body, your car requires constant care to maintain its tip top shape.  Keeping your car up to date on its regular services will vastly extend the life of your car. It's how some cars from the 90's are still around today despite having over 300,000 miles and counting on it.

Oil changes and tire rotations among other services will keep your car running smoothly.  An added bonus to bringing your car in regularly is our free 50 point safety check that we perform on every vehicle.  This check will catch any other issues that are forming in your car, and early diagnosis means less money out of your pocket to fix the issue.

Like a diet, you want to avoid the lower quality products.  At Personal Auto Repair, we will give you our recommendation on which product you should get based on the quality of the product and the cost.  Of course, we'll also give you other options for you to decide on, and ultimately the final decision will be yours.

Check out this handy list of services that your car should regularly undergo.

How often: Every 3000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.

What it is:  An oil change is where the mechanic replaces your car's oil filter and oil with a new filter and new oil.  Oil keeps your engine lubricated so that it performs at an optimal level.  Old oil contains foreign material and will eventually become detrimental to the functioning of the car.

What happens if service is not performed:  While going past the suggested service timeframe for a little while won't damage your vehicle, skipping oil changes could eventually lead to a blown radiator or blown engine, both of which are very expensive and time consuming fixes.

How often: Every 5000 - 6000 miles.

What it is:  A Tire Rotation is when your tires are moved from one part of the car to another. Usually tires are moved from front to back and back to front to ensure all 4 tires wear at the same rate. At times only 2 tire may be moved while the other 2 stay in the same position.

What happens if service is not performed:

2 tires will wear down much faster than the rest requiring 2 new tires to be purchased sooner than expected.
